First Orchid Conservation Alliance Symposium Features Reserva Partners

March 26, 2022

Orchid Conservation Alliance’s first-ever Orchid Conservation Symposium showcased conservation and research of the orchids of Ecuador and Colombia. In a day packed with presentations with over 100 live viewers, we particularly enjoyed seeing the fantastic work of our friends, Lou Jost and Youth Council member Marco Monteros from Fundación EcoMinga.

The symposium featured three organizations supported by Orchid Conservation Alliance: Fundación EcoMinga in Ecuador, Corporación SalvaMontes in northern Colombia, and La Palma in southern Colombia. Representatives from each organization’s reserves gave conservation updates, shared their latest research, and finished with an audience Q&A. You can see other presentations, including a biodiversity presentation by renowned biologist and OCA member Tom Givnish, at OCA’s event recap here.

Lepanthes tulcanensis, one of the spectacular orchids from Dracula Reserve recently published by Marco Monteros and Luis E. Baquero. Read more about this orchid here!
