This website is owned and operated by Reserva: The Youth Land Trust, Inc. (“Reserva”).  Reserva is a nonprofit, tax-exempt charitable organization (tax identification number 84-2906892) under Section 501(c)(3) of the U.S. Internal Revenue Code.  

This privacy policy applies to this website and any online services that we operate and that link to this privacy policy (“Privacy Policy”).  For the purposes of the EU and the U.K. General Data Protection Regulations, Reserva is headquartered in the United States.

Overview

We are committed to respecting and protecting the privacy of our website visitors and of our community of volunteers and activists.  This Privacy Policy discusses how we collect and use the Personal Information that you provide or that we collect online, as well as how we protect that Personal Information, especially children’s privacy (“Privacy Practices”).

By “Personal Information,” we mean any information that relates to an identified or identifiable person.  This includes your name, email address, social media account handle, profile picture, and correspondence.  

Should our Privacy Practices change in the future, we will post a revised Privacy Policy on our website.  You can see the date of the latest modifications to the policy at the bottom of this webpage.  By using our website and/or other services covered by the Privacy Policy, you are accepting the Privacy Practices described in the Privacy Policy.

What Personal Information We Collect

We do not collect Personal Information unless you provide it to us voluntarily and knowingly and as described in this Privacy Policy.  We will only collect Personal Information when you submit it.  This includes your name, country of residence, email address, social medial account handle, profile picture, and correspondence.

How We Use the Personal Information We Collect and How We Share that Information

The Personal Information that you provide and that we collect is used and processed by us, our service providers, and our partners.

We may collect and process Personal Information to help us to operate our website, for general business purposes, and for the purposes for which you provided the information.  General business purposes are Reserva’s missions and programs, marketing, promotions, merchandising, and fundraising activities and communications.  The purposes for which you provide Personal Information include, for example, to process online transactions such as merchandise purchases, donations, participation in Reserva missions, programs, and leadership.

(1)   Contact Details: We may use your email address to keep in contact with you and to keep you informed of our missions and programs.  Mostly, we will communicate by email.  You can stop receiving emails from us by “unsubscribing” from our contact list.  Every email that we send you will have a link at the bottom of the email that will guide you through how to unsubscribe. 

(2)   Profile Details: When you give us permission to do so, we will post your name, social media handle, and profile picture that you provide us on our website and/or as a part of our missions or programs.

We do not sell Personal Information or other information you provide to us.  We do not share your Personal Information outside of the following instances and only in accordance with applicable law and any required consents.

(1)   Mission and program target audiences: When you send us correspondence in furtherance of one of our missions or programs, we may share that correspondence, as well as your name and country of residence, with our partners and target audiences, which include non-governmental organizations (“NGOs”), general public interested in environmental stewardship, and public authorities and intergovernmental organizations responsible for land management.

(2)   Service providers: We may share Personal Information with our service providers in furtherance of our operations or the operation of the site, for instance, to process a purchase, donation, or other transaction you make.

(3)   Legal authorities and parties to legal actions: Should we need to comply with legal processes such as a subpoena or court order or to otherwise protect your or our legal rights.

Children’s Privacy

We are committed to safeguarding the Personal Information of the young people who access our website and who participate in our missions and programs.  We request parental consent to use, collect, and to share the Personal Information of children under the age of 13.  This Personal Information allows us to carry out our programs and missions, keep records, undertake certain marketing activities (only in accordance with applicable law and any required consents), or to otherwise customize or enhance the website experience for children.

Children under the age of 13 may be able to make certain content such as user generated content visible to others or the public.  This could include, for example, our Youth Council profile page and correspondence submitted by children in support of our missions and programs.  We encourage parents to check and monitor their children's use of email and other online activities regularly.

The safety of your Personal Information is important to us.  We take measures to implement reasonable physical, electronic, and managerial procedures to safeguard and help prevent unauthorized access, maintain data security, and correctly use the information we collect online.

Your Right to Opt Out from Receiving Marketing Communications

You may opt out from our using your Personal Information to send marketing communications to you.  If you choose to hear from us, we may send you email communications about missions and/or programs that we think would interest you.  If you change your mind at a later date and no longer wish to receive communications from us, please either email us at info@reservaylt.org or click on the “unsubscribe” link at the bottom of our email communications to you.

Your Right to Access, Correct, and Delete Your Personal Data

If you are from the European Economic Area or the U.K., you have the right to ask us about what Personal Information we hold about you and to ask us for a copy.  You also have the right to correct or delete Personal Information that is yours.  If you want to request a correction or deletion of the Personal Information we hold about you, please contact us by mail at one of the contact addresses listed below.
