Reserva x Langland Conservation:

A 6-Week Group Internship Exploring the Basics of Conservation Intelligence

ABOUT THE PROGRAM

Since 2019, Reserva has been working to find new ways for young people to engage in conservation solutions. In 2024, we started an internship program between Reserva and Langland Conservation, a UK-based organisation whose mission is to equip their partners with intelligence expertise and frontier technology, enabling them to maximise their positive impact. To make youth involvement both safe and practical, we identified those parts of the intelligence-gathering process utilised by Langland Conservation that were safe and could easily be done by young people, regardless of their cultural and financial backgrounds, and skill level. Our 6-week pilot program introduced 12 young conservationists to essential intelligence gathering concepts, safe search practices, and open-source tools to identify threats to conservation in their assigned country. We believe that involving young people in conservation through internships not only enables organisations, like Langland Conservation, to scale up their conservation efforts, but it also empowers young people with practical tools, knowledge, and leadership experience that are important to shaping and preparing their futures as conservation leaders.

This internship is currently open only to Reserva Youth Council members over the age of 18. We are looking for funding partners to expand this internship program to include youth participants from conservation organizations—helping grow capacity among teams working in Earth’s wildest places to operate safely and liaise with experts through capable young leaders.
