Fundraise with us!

Whether you are 26 or younger, or you’re fundraising on behalf of someone who is, we need your help to conserve wild places.

Fundraise online:

Come back soon for a link to join as a fundraiser for our next project!

Social Media Fundraisers:

  1. Create a Facebook fundraiser. (Birthday fundraisers are always best! You can also use Instagram.)

  2. Write your story about why you care about conserving critical habitat for endangered species. People want to donate because you care, not because we do.

  3. Make it visual! You can include photos from our website or instagram, your own images, or even draw something. If you find an image you like online, make sure you have permission to share it!

  4. Share! Invite everyone you know to contribute. It’s OK to send a nudge, or to ask friends and family just to give a little bit to get the fundraiser going. Don’t be afraid to ask; every dollar you raise will literally be saving important habitat that is under imminent threat of development. This is your planet, and it’s worth going out of your comfort zone to protect these wild places while you have the chance.

Alice and Henry of South Carolina, USA, raised $200 over two days at their lemonade stand / bake sale. They printed out images from our instagram, and even brought props! They contributed their own money (see the butterflies), and encouraged customers to add a donation to their lemonade or cookie purchase.

traditional fundraisers:

  1. Decide what type of fundraiser you want to hold. It could be the tried-and-true bake sale or lemonade stand, a fundraising walk, a school dress down day, or something of your own invention!

  2. Decide on a time and place. Be sure to get permission if you’re setting up a stand, but don’t be afraid to ask! Places like grocery stores and churches are often happy to let you hold a fundraiser for a good cause if you ask in advance. You’ll want to find a place with good foot traffic if you’re setting up a stand.

  3. Write down your what and why. Whether you’re making a flyer, an email, or a sign, you need a headline—something catchy like “Walk for Wildlife” or something that gets straight to the point, like “Help Sally Save the Rainforest!” Next, you need a sentence or two about why you care; are you concerned for a specific species? Want to fight climate change? Or just love the rainforest? People will want to know why you care enough to fundraise.

  4. Make it visual! Draw or include photos of species from our site (spider monkey, puma, spectacled bear, glass frog, toucan, orchid, ocelot, blue morpho butterfly …). One successful fundraiser included a board where every donation above the cost of lemonade was acknowledged with a butterfly-shaped cutout with “Habitat Saver” above their name. Get creative!

  5. Donate! Tally up your earnings and donate online (or ask an adult to do it for you), or you can mail your donation (a check is safest) to Reserva: The Youth Land Trust at P.O. Box 57277, Washington DC 20037.

  6. Share! We’d love to hear what you did, see photos, and send you a personal thank you. Please email us!
